EMBRUJO DEL CAMPO
Embrujo del campo, Naturalness and Expression
A sunset or sunrise with a walk through the organically grown vineyards. Breathe the pure air of a green blanket that covers the fields. A sustainable approach of respect for the environment, the constant wind that helps to obtain that healthy, crisp and tasty grape. An organic grape that later becomes an exceptional wine and provides us with the unique moments that are EMBRUJO DEL CAMPO.
Varieties
In each bottle of EMBRUJO DEL CAMPO we transmit all our passion. The experience of our generations is projected in a young team that likes what they do, that knows organic is not at odds with an exceptional wine, and that enjoys selecting the best plots for which there is no alternative other than improving the environment.
Elías Montero Winemaker
Elías Montero began his professional career in 2001 in different wineries in Castilla La Mancha and Ribera del Duero. Later, in South Africa, he discovers that his vocation is to make wines, which can transmit an origin.
In 2005 he started the VERUM project under his technical direction. He was directly involved in other processes such as marketing and commercialization. The launch of VERUM represents a change in the philosophy of the wineries in the region.
Elías works for varietal excellence and to show essence and character through organic viticulture.
Winemaker Elías Montero begins to produce wines that obtain national and international recognition thanks to the heritage of his family and their vineyards of more than 60 years and varietals with an average age of 25 years. Hence, the specialized press begins to take seriously the winery’s commitment to quality wines made in Castilla-La Mancha.
In 2016 he returned to the southern hemisphere. He became the first Spanish winemaker to produce in Patagonia Argentina, the southernmost region of the world where wines are made.
Elías and his brothers have worked intensively on planting varieties that have demonstrated their ability to adapt to climate change. Some national varieties are producing great wines in Tomelloso: Aromatic Malvasia, Mazuelo, and Graciano. Along with these varieties, Elías and his brothers have recovered other minority autochthonous varieties: Moravia Agria, Albillo Real and Tinto Velasco, among others.
WINEMAKER OF THE YEAR AT THE 2021 RESPECTED BY GAGGENAU AWARDS.
2018 DECANTER in its March 2018 issue publishes an article naming Elías López Montero among the 10 winemakers expected to change wine in Spain.
Praised by international critics such as Jancis Robinson, Ferrán Centelles, Pedro Ballesteros MW, Sarah Jane Evans MW, Luis Gutiérrez, and many others for his work with the AIRÉN variety, the recovery of autochthonous varieties, and his work with centuries-old clay jars.
